Mumble Media 2

This mumbling is all about cross media of video games and internet videos. Cool cinematic, eye popping visuals and stories that had their own moment this past week.

The Division

Ubisoft a video game development studio that expands across the world with fantastic studios in different parts of the world. The developers are famous for the Assassin Creed games that have been released every year so far. They also create small games like Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a story based during WW1. With experience in every genre so far they have reached to make a new game call The Division.

For the time of this mumble for what is the The Division is a RPG shooter with the story of New York city fallen to a devastating epidemic. The player themselves are agents of a group called THE DIVISION where the city basic services are shut down while chaos such as looters and gangs destroy the city. The Agents must try to restore the city and solve this outbreak epidemic mysteries.

Ubisoft has partnered with a few video production studios to develop narrative videos based in The Division world. The studios involved are Rocket Jump, Corridor Digital and Devin Super Tramp who made a staple in online content.

That is as far as I know about The Division as so little has came out of Ubisoft since its initial trailer back in 2013. The first trailer was more of a story and scope of what the games is about as where players can experience. A fallen huge city that has been cut off from the world and agents of the Division would need to help fix what cause a major city to have a virus wipe out the population. That was one long sentence that explained what I know so far.

More gameplay has come out as Ubisoft has a release date March 8, 2016 with a beta coming January 28. Anyone who pre-orders or sign up for the beta can experience what the gameplay is about. I am a bit surprised that the game has not been explained more unless the gameplay intertwined with the story. I can understand that they do not want to explain a lot of the story since they want honest impressions once it comes out. Only a few more weeks until it comes out and I am excited to play it on day.

For why these videos are made is part of the movement of cross media. One type of media can only reach so far to an audience. That is why print magazines have video interviews on their respective websites because the demographic enjoy it more than words on screen. For Ubisoft to create a narrative YouTube videos is the best way to show the story of a specific game. Especially for video producers who understand video games in the first place. The pacing and visual graphics that represents the game into live action is super cool.

That is all I got for this mumble if you think cross media is important in current state for video games or other type of media please leave a comment to this post.
